"It's the most wonderful time of the year" - Every year at the start of December I hear Andy Williams croon these words on the radio. I have to admit, it's one of my favourite Christmas songs ever made. It makes me feel more festive every time I hear it; Not to mention, Andy Williams was incredibly right, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and I love it every year.
Now I bet most of you are realizing that this is my first blog post in quite a while, well that is very true. I could write an essay on how busy I have been with completing my undergraduate degree in Fashion Management ( I now have a fashion degree, aaahh!), or that the past year in general had taken it's toll on my personal and mental well being that I struggled to do many things. Honestly, I could go into detail about many reasons as to why I have been unavailable, but I do not need to dwell on the past.
I am currently in a much better place and I am looking forward to the future. Not to mention I am a student once more, as I have embarked on a masters degree in Journalism so I can achieve my career goal of becoming a fashion journalist. Also I have recently found a wonderful new man, and I feel as though my friendships have become stronger this year. So all in all, I feel good with where I am at right now. Of course I still have a lot more growing to do, but I feel like I am making progress.
So I decided that I needed to get back to my blog, and I couldn't think of a better time other than Christmas. I always feel wonderful at this time of the year, coming home from my studies to spend time with my family (particularly the little ones who are growing so big!), drinking hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies. I am honestly the biggest child when it comes to the festive season. Just before I wrote this blog post I was sat on my floor with a cup of hot chocolate, with tons of presents and wrapping to be done all scattered around me. Sounds hectic, but I do love it.
Not to mention Christmas brings out some of the best scenery I have seen all year. I attended Edinburgh's Winter Market with my parents just last week and I tried Nutella hot chocolate for the very first time, and I think I fell in love. Like usual it was incredibly beautiful. Of course it was busy!, like it usually is, but there is no denying that it's a beautiful sight. Also what would Christmas be without the hustle and bustle of the big cities? I don't think it would feel very festive if the cities were quiet.
While this blog post may not seem much, it means a lot to me to get back into my writing, which I aim to upkeep more as of now. Therefore I wish you all a very merry Christmas, and of course a wonderful new year!
Peace & Love, Rachel Couture xo
